Popcorn removal process
Before beginning the popcorn removal process we have to properly prepare the necessary areas. This means that we have to mask off all of the walls and other surfaces that are in danger of dust and debris. This process involves running tape and plastic around the entire perimeter of the walls, from ceilings down to the floor. If furniture cannot be removed from the room, then it will have to be thoroughly covered with plastic sheeting. All floors will have to be properly covered and all doorway openings will have to be blocked off with plastic sheeting to prevent dust from traveling through-out the home. Once everything is prepped securely we can then move forward with the popcorn removal process.
After removing the popcorn from the ceilings the 3 key steps for prepping the surfaces areas are:
Inspect the ceiling for cracks, holes and other imperfections that need patching up prior to painting.
Use sandpaper to smooth out any rough spots in order to create a uniform finish when applying paint.
Wipe away all dust from sanding before moving on to priming and painting the ceiling.
After these 3 steps have passed inspection, we can then begin applying the primer. It's important to get an even coat of primer across the whole ceiling. An even coat of primer will assure the top coat will adhere properly and it will also help make the finish coat more uniform. Once the primer has been applied we can move on to the topcoat. The topcoat is going to be what makes the finish coat really stand out. So it's really important to apply the paint evenly across the whole ceiling, because if the topcoat isn't even then neither will the finish coat be. After the topcoat has dried, we'll then apply an even finish coat across the ceiling.
Finally, after all this is done, there's the cleanup process, which, by itself is a daunting task. But when everything is done, what you'll have is a brand new bright white ceiling that you'll love. You'll be asking yourself why you didn't do it sooner.
